Calling on startups – register for the Konecranes Reach Program

Konecranes invites startups to pitch their solutions directly to company decision makers for a chance at longer term partnership.

Konecranes continuously researches innovative applications for technology, with the aim of creating products and services that improve productivity in material handling while prioritizing safety and the environment.

For years, the company has actively sought to form longer term relationships with companies, small and large, that develop technologies which are highly relevant to its business. These technologies include, for example, emerging sensor solutions, connectivity, data analytics, machine learning, virtual and augmented reality or human-machine interaction, to name a few.

Konecranes is launching the Konecranes Reach Program, calling on startups to apply to pitch their technologies directly to Konecranes decision makers.

“As new technologies arise in a rapidly increasing fashion, a systematic way of collaborating with startups helps us understand what is available in the markets and what technologies are mature enough for our industry. Through open innovation, calling in small companies, we can combine new technologies developed rapidly by startups with our industry and R&D expertise at Konecranes,” says Timo Harjunen, Director, Digital Platform Development.

“Through this Konecranes Reach Program, we are speeding up the process of starting real R&D collaborations. This way, the lead times to deliver the technologies or features to market and for customers to be able to benefit from them become as short as possible,” he continues.

Registration is now open for the Konecranes Reach Program, and closes on March 18, 2018.

Konecranes will screen the applications, choosing five finalists who will present their solutions at a pitching event which will take place at the startup community, Maria 01, in Helsinki, on April 19, 2018.  From the pitches, Konecranes will select at least one startup with whom they will run a pilot project.
