Mital Desai, Technician

 

I'm Mital Desai, and I'm a service engineer, the youngest team member of my team.

I was 19 years old when I was at my college, and I got noticed in the Konecranes campus drive. So my dad asked me to join this interview. And luckily, it was my best interview. I joined Konecranes on June 3, 2019. From the very first day I got to know that. I was the only and the first female technician who will be working on cranes. So that was really a proud moment for me.

And I like to implement whatever I've learnt, I like to implement them in different ways, I like to learn and gain all the knowledge. All the time, I think that this is a good job and a suitable job that I have got through.

Earlier at the starting stage when I used to be on-site, it was new to all the customers that a girl was at service, and how she was going to do all the service things of cranes. But I had a super great team who actually gave me good support, who told me that there is only one customer who will deny you who will think that you are not allowed. But there are ten more customers who will accept you as you are and who will tell you that you should go for it and try for it. And yes, there are customers who support me. And I'm really proud of those customers.

When I was sent alone on the site, it was difficult for me because there were different questions which were coming in my head and I had no answer for them. There was my team who was at the back, sitting there and usually supporting me through calls, and Teams and, etc.

Working in a male-oriented job, I feel satisfied, I feel I'm growing, and I feel I'm learning. I've learnt to handle different situations and difficult situations, I've learnt to handle different customers and explore different places, which is one of the best thing I can say because I love travelling a lot.

It has been one and a half year I've been working at Konecranes, and it's really a perfect start of my career. I have learnt and explored the quality we've shared, the knowledge we've had, the teamwork, and the atmosphere at Konecranes are something that I feel really pleasant about.

I wish we have many more colleagues and many more female technicians in our team. And I wish good luck to all of them.
